Kenya Rugby : Boeing KQ7 has landed
As reported earlier Kenya Airways are the new confirmed sponsors of the Kenya Rugby 7's team. Goodbye Virgin Atlantic and Richard Branson Hello KQ and Taitus Naikuni.
Naikuni described the timing as right and unique adding that the move to join partnership with KRFU was due to its transparency and accountability...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope they will do a good job of supporting the lads. Tusker was there for ages and basically did 'nothing' in my books, until virgin stepped in to show them how it is done!
I am with coldtusker on the special deals for rugby fans!!! The national airline carrying the national 7s team.
Perhaps even have the tail painted with the shujaa logo when they ferry them to their games (this one looks to be a bit far fetched though...lol)
Unfortunately, most companies in Kenya do not appreciate sports sponsorship. They just feel they need to get in and thanks to Virgin and Tusker, KRFU are now able to squeeze more out such people. I remember Naikuni's first speech as CEO of KQ where he said "we are in this business to sell tickets, not give them for free" and with that killed whatever sponsorships they had going with various entities. What has changed since? and don't tell me about "transparency and accountability"!

Hopefully, KQ arranges some special deals for the rugby fans to lend support to our team!

Took them forever to make sense of sports sponsorship. What if Virgin Air had not sponsored, would they have come in then ?
