IRB 7's Scotland : Wales beat Kenya in Bowl Final

Kenya 7's journey in this years IRB 7's circuit ended with a 26-10
loss to Wales in the Edinburgh bowl final. Lack of skills and
technique thoroughly exposed Shujaa in this tournament leaving the
Coach Ayimba with an overflowing bowl of thoughts for both his and the
Shujaa team's future.

Earlier Kenya had beaten USA 17-12 in the bowl semi-final. Collins
Injera scored the winning 'golden score' try in sudden death
extra-time. The 2009 IRB 7's top try scorer had a tournament he would
rather forget in a hurry. Coach Ayimba shuffled him around and kept
looking for a position for him to play rather than drop him
altogether.

Kenya now return home at 2pm Tuesday to prepare for the Safaricom
Safari Sevens where they hope to salvage some pride for their deeply
wounded status. Hopefully a new crop of players will emerge.

Congratulations to Samoa the new IRB 7's 2010 champions who also won
Edinburgh 7's. Kenya finished a disappointing 8th with 52 points. New
Zealand, Australia, Fiji, England, South Africa and Argentina were
placed in that order between Samoa and Kenya.

I think people are quick to judge the team's performance in the UK legs without realising that Ayimba has started to bring the once so called fringe players - Leon Adongo, Horace Otieno into the squad. Australia also went through a lean time, when they were our regular customers, but look how they have turned out finishing t3rd in the 2009/2010 series.
Let us not be quick to judge..

Boys are tired. Why should they play Safari 7's. No use them caning Les, Bleus, Grenoble, Uganda, Emerging Springboks etc and they can't even win the bowl in the IRB series. Let them use Safari 7's to give the fringe players and other youngsters a chance to play against quality opposition and a chance to put up their hands for selection. After all they were the most experienced team in the IRB series (in terms of player experience at the IRB series and age)and they still choked.
