They'd already booked their tickets to Zimbabwe ... while the university 7s side had to tickets for the world university games ...

What a shame. KRU were give USD20,000 by CAR to take part in the U19 tournament (all teams were given 20,000USD for airfare). They picked a team a week before the tournament. All that time they had agreed to provide tickets for the university 7s team to go to Porto. The as usual, the last minute!
KRU used free KQ tickets for the team. Where did the 20000USD go?

KRFU and financial impropriety are perfect bedfellows. They would rather not pay suppliers, contractors and players but would rather give themselves free trips and hefty allowances. Why would they pay 17 million for a piece of land and not give a penny to the players?

I am not so worried about the loss to Uganda. Kenyan players can best be described as "Late Bloomers". There are numerous examples to this effect (Nato Simiyu and Vincent Mose just two of them). These players did not stand out in their early years but have slowly come of age. Also younger players are breaking through to the main team without necessary coming through the age grades. But a lot of room for improvement remains.
As for financial impropriety my suggestion is that if there is anyone with concrete evidence let them table it or else we are just groping in the dark.

@Wanjala Were - simply ask the KRFU Chairman to produce the accounts for the last 5 years. Who are the directors of Safari Sevens Ltd and Kenya Rugby Ltd? You'll be shocked with the answerz you will get.

Concrete Evidence?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wanjala Were must be mad.
We have attended so many KRFU AGMs and are promised accounts. Just produce the accounts, Audited accounts. And not by Simon and Aggrey Auditors! by internationally recognized Audit firms.

@ Anonymous - at least you get to attend the AGMs. So what happens at the AGMs? Do you demand for the proper accounts and follow up? I mean if you are in a position to attend the AGMs, which some of us are locked out from, then you are best placed to do something about it.

rugby union is only interested in 7's m for 15's to excel they shoud start from the age grade. playin for the national team is a honour and we never paid transport allowance. the union should hold the the under 20 for practise for worldcup. if they cant do that bejamin ayimba is out to prove teh wrong by retaining the team
