Guest Post - Nondies vs. Impala Battle it out!

With great thanks, a guest post from a reader of this blog. Read on!!

Match of the day on Saturday brings two of Kenya's illustrious and most successful club sides in XV, Nondies and Impala. With 28 Kenya Cup titles (out of a possible 43 i.e. 65% which excludes old disbanded clubs like Barclays and others) between them, the history, pedigree, tradition and desire of these teams is unmatched. Interestingly, they combine to form the formidable Cheetahs franchise and this match could also be billed as a trial game.

Impala have been in scintillating form this season and raced to the top of the log. Nondies, who only escaped relegation last season on technicalities, have had a near perfect start to the season save for a single loss to Quins. In a pre-season friendly, Nondies claim to have beaten Impala 17 - 12 giving them a mental edge. Further, with 11 first choice players of Impala touring in Singapore, Nondies can smell blood in the horizon.

Impala's attempts to have the game postpone were unsuccessful (i thought Impala controlled KRU??) and they will have to dig deep to field a formidable side. Rumour has it that some players are being called out of retirement to fill in the numbers for this game as Impala approaches the game placing a premium on experience. But the question is whether the old war horses have enough left in teh tank sustain the intensity and physicality of modern day Kenya Cup together with new changes in the law. Bar talk like "in our days" has no place in the modern game.

I cannot wait for Saturday to see this match unravel. Only a brave man will call a winner in this situation.

Cheers

Oluoko

Nondies fought hard not to get the game postponed so that they can meet a 'weaker' Impala side.

So are we saying that Nondies hopes to play a "weaker" Impala side so as to fight relegation... Clearly they are feeding on crumbs for survival. Only sad thing is that i have never seen a weak Impala team in all my past rugby career.. My prediction Impala to win by 15points. although i would really hope that nondies win as iam fed up of IRB.

Might these Old gaurds be the likes of Oscar osir, Mitch ocholla, Benjamin Ayimba, Oduor Gangla, Fred ollows, Willy Ombisi, Tony Karembu and the ever Green Moses Kola oh! and TC Charles Ngovi... These guys with their potbellies can still beat Nondi.

Even with the Old Guards, i hope the Nondies crash Impala. These Impala groupies run the KRU through their visible 'Impala Mafia' and manipulate fixtures to their advantage. Lets see the depth they always talk about.

true myguy. lets see how deep impala mafia can go.. i doubt even their mafioso tactics will get them out of this... Who told them to go to singapo. meanwhile i hea gray cullen is back.. So that will be a good match up Impala's self proclaimed Rambo (oimbo) vs th Gray "The Beast" cullen.

I wonder if Rambo5 is ready for viewership.

Oluoko! This the sort of thing we want!! We are bored stiff of hearing KRU dealings and the IRB connection. Plain rugby talk, my man. Appetite wetting match full of background issues, haha! I tip Impala having seen the Nondies teams I & II. Never seen a weak Impala as well.

Oluoko for correspondent!

I hear Impala are now chasing Frank to get a postponement of the game. Many of the old horses failed the fitness tests yesterda and cannot play to save themselves. Let us not forget that Impala got Frank elected ahead of Chabeda (who incidentaly was Impala chairman at one stage and wanted to shut down the rugby section), let us see.

Sad day for rugby.

The Singapore tournament is nowhere in the season's rugby fixtures, is it?
I believe Impala were fully aware of the consequences when they opted to go to Singapore. What do the rules governing the running of Kenya cup have to say?
Is it official that the game has been postpone?
Impala say they have depth so let us see the quality of the "depth". On another note, why are so many of you Anonymous. Why not even have a nickname?

Now WERE, let them be, the msg is what is important.

Thats a confused fellow game is still on.

Now get your fact right. Impala will play Nondies and win..

Two, impala informed the union that they will be attending the 62th SCC and requested for an adjustment.

3. Nondies beat Impala three during the warm up game.

4. Impala 2 can beat Nondies 1

5. Nondies should be in ESS

6. Do you see some similarity between Nodies and liverpool.

7. Nondies ran out of white people. then game went down

8. Nondies are unfit

9. Nondies are in Kenya cup due to politics

10. Nondies is a social clubhouse. The best thing about Nondies is the red Lion bar.

11. Sad thing about th redlion is that they spike you drink

12. Nondies dont have subs for their 1st team

13. For you to play for Nodies you must be white. thats why they put on white kit.

Did you know that Nondies wear white because England wear white.
Mwamba wear Black because Nondies wear White (And train on Mondays because Nondies train on Tuesdays)
Impala wear red because Wales wear red.
Strath Leos wear Blue because Machine wear blue!
Nakuru, Mombasa and Kisumu change their colours depending on who donates kit to them!
All Quins wear the same colors worldwide.
