Kenya Cup Results 27.11.10
Impala bounce back over KCB Mwamba roll over Nondies Quins rally to beat Nakuru
Met a Nondies front row player at Transchem Chemist buying pain killers to relief pain from a dental injury sustained in the line of 1st team duty for Nodies against Mwamba. If he chooses to see a dentist, which he has to sooner than later, he will have to foot his own bill.
This is the sad state of affairs in Kenya rugby. Clubs in Kenya cup can a afford upto 4 crates of beer weekly for home and away players but cant get insurance covers for there players. Strange priorities!
International clubs get covers for their contracted players and require all others opting to train with them to get a cover before taking the pitch even for training. Why doesnt the union make this a requirement for all active players? This can even be done through one insurance firm via the union to get a good bargain for the players. Or do we want to wait until the Ministry of rugby starts such an initiative to rush ahead and do the same while accusing them of exploiting rugby. KRU or ministry of rugby do something, there is a vacuum here.
That said, i recall that KRU had promised Covers for all players who played in the BRSS that wld run all year. What happened? Mnakula tu?
Do we have to wait until a player sustains a life/ career threatening injury that comes with a huge medical bill to act?
I understand rugby clubs in Kenya may not be able to pay allowances for players, but is a medical cover too much to ask for? Sensible players, stop playing for clubs who cant cover you, they simply DONT CARE! There is no other way of looking at it.
many insurance companies have personal accident policies that cost as little as 3,600/=. this is the equivalent of sh 300 a month. why are players unable to save this and cover themselves? this mentality of someone else always looking after 'my' issues is a real mess! small wonder that too many players are unable to take responsibility on the pitch these days. 'get me a job' 'give me boots' 'i need training shorts, help me' blah blah!
A few years back when KRU had shopped around for insurance at the rate of KES 1000 per player was it not clubs lead by nondies who refused ati wako na private covers
Insurance during BRSS covers only those 100 players fool...
na ata kama wanakula .. c its their time to eat wait for urs... or joini arigi in fllecing kenya rugby
Most insurance companies classify sports such as Rugby, Boxing and Mountain climbing as too risky to cover. In my active rugby years, i did get a personal accident cover with Alico but they specifically excluded sports. This where KRU comes in. They'd be able to negotiate for a cover that takes care of rugby.
