Kenya Name Squad for Opening Legs of Circuit

Coach Benjamin Ayimba has unveiled a relatively strong squad to start the challenge for this year's HSBC IRB Sevens Circuit. The team and technical bench have been much criticised over selection of players and this selection continues the trend with a non-squad member being named to travel! Key members absent also are Collins Injera and Lavin Asego. The team is as follows.

Humphrey Kayange - Mwamba
Horace Otieno - Mwamba
Wilson Opondo - Harlequins
Leon Adongo - Harlequins
Patrice Agunda - Harlequins
David Ambunya - Harlequins
Gibson Weru - Nakuru
Edwin Shimenga - Nakuru
Brian Nyikuli - Impala
Andrew Amonde - KCB
Peter Ochola - Impala
Ben Nyambu - Nondies

Named as non-traveling reserves are Biko Adema, Innocent Simiyu and Dennis Ombachi. The team participates in the Dubai Sevens and the George Sevens from next week. We wish them well.

NO! Injera has to be there!
That squad looks suspect!

This surely isn't our most tactful side chosen so far. Why is Grey Cullen missing? He played the best at the Commonwealth.

playmaker (lavin) and finisher (injera) left out (simiyu and biko too). fresh faces in the team is gud-team looks solid-cant wait to see the backline. wish them all the best. kayange (best playmaker and finisher)... lead by example.

Interesting squad, lack of established wingers(read finishers) might be our downfall. But we hav playmakers in Weru & Ocholla.

Also good to see Shimenga back,we were losing out as other teams became more physical in their approach. K'Opondo will learn alot from him.

Lets all get behind the boys! Lets Go kenya!

i just hope they will ditch the contact game they have been playing for last two seasons and play a more fluid running game that they played in the Wcup.since they are faster and more agile than most of the big teams...only hurdle in my books if they played with this strategy would be samoa as other sides are shifting towards a more physical contact game which in my honest opinion they clearly dont really have the muscle for

Can the writer please inform us who this non-squad player is instead of leaving those of us unfamiliar with the larger squad to blind guesswork. Thanks!
