Kenya Rugby 7's coach sprint forced out

Geoffrey Kimani the sprints and conditioning coach of the Kenya 7's
side has been forced out of the team. Kimani who has done a sterling
job with the team is not wanted by the cabal of incompetent
administrators and Kenya 7's director.

Kimani was part of the gallant effort that saw the team reach the
Rugby 7's World Cup where the team reached a record breaking semi
final.

Instead the team is now being handled by the Impala rugby 'sprinting'
coach who handled the team under floodlights on Wednesday night.
Coaches Ayimba and Ochieng did not attend the session and watched from
afar.

Kimani's departure follows that of Wanjiku Wairia-Lumula who was also
run out of town by the same cabal. No nutritionist now works the team.

The successful technical arm that took the team to the 2009 World Cup
is slowly being dismantled systematically.

the guy got them to the world cup semis in top shape must have been doing something right

what is the guy's current performance and has he met all his objectives? we cannot leave in the past. Also, in light of the performance of the Kenya 7s in 2009/10, we need to reassess the whole technical team. Our team is moving backwards and teams full of 19 and 20 year olds like Australia are now winning tournaments and playing a very technically astute game

Wait a minute, Impala has a sprints coach?
Teams are struggling to get coaches and some clubs have sprints coaches? How now?

I thot Kim is on contract with the union, how now then does Impala come in????? Impala has a fitness and conditioning coach, not a sprint coach and he does not work for the union or sevens. the ills of 7s we all know start with Benja and end with Totti... We are chasing flies instead of curing the sick cow.

That article must be from a Quincake.

Ignorance will get u killed. If u took a keen note, those were tests being conducted. Meanwhile KIM must bring down his ego and stop taking issues to facebook isntead of to the people who have contracted him.

Problem with Kenya 7s is the Technical team. btw what happened to that story of Benja being replaced??? who had that story? toboa...

Bas! ukweli ndio hio... i hea RO is Benjas puppet and hes the one supporting Benja despite the whole board and the fact that he didnt meet his KPI's, even one. And yes
Benja is contracted by the union.

Benja has no coaching qualification, only played 7s and correct me if am wrong Kenya has 3 qualified level 3 coaches?

I wonder what DO(Lox) is doing about that, since RO has proven that hes singing, dancing and performing to Ayimba School of Rugby.

Sad thing is that even as a player benja was not even close to being a technical player. So i wonder where this sudden burst of rugby expertise came from. Lox ? i doubt, as rumour has it that he had a fallout with IRB.

Perhaps now that they have fired Kim they should get a proper fitness and conditioning coach, fire Totti as hes a quin( he put 12 players of quins in a squad of 22, some play for team 2).

I bet once RO's terms ends, the candidates for Chair, Big Max, Peter Nduati, Sabwa, Mwangi will oust benja as first order of business as they are all not students of Ayimba's school of rugby so.

Ps. that could be ones of thems campaign tool.

The problem with Rugby in Kenya is ujuaji that has no basis! Even a casual query reveals that the Kenya 7s team was being tested for physical condition. Once the condition is known then a physical programme is put in place. This is when a conditioning coaches check in.

A clear separation of testing and preps is necessary. Similar to how preps for KCSE are separated from testing.

Speed is only one aspect of physical condition. This is Kimani's speciality but he has got better and now includes many aspects of rugby physical conditionining.

Simple query also reveals that Kimani has a consultant contract with KRU for ALL the national teams. He hasn't been fired. Indeed, looks like the Union is reorganising its technical operations.

Another simple question: Are the competition conditions the same now as in 2009? If not, can we continue to do the things the same way as we did in 2009? Are the teams we competed against in 2009 doing the same things?

Come on guys! This article is guilty of incompetent thinking

Clearly Payperview must be an employee or director of the union..

Too much Politicking.
Life is such that - "Nature abhors a vacuum."
Kim was great. If he leaves someone else will fill his shoes.
We might go around pointing fingers at who is to blame but this will not solve anything.
Of course there are concerns on why the team has sunk so low? It happens to the best of teams - think Liverpool. But instead of whining and bickering we ought to do something e.g "Hate Glazer, Love United" - Ministry of rugby is a good start..but it needs to gel its efforts with the union.
As Darwin said "Survival for the fittest"
If we bicker and fight amongst ourselves, Kenyan rugby will be the ultimate loser.
It is human nature to think that the benefits of others success do not accrue to ourselves. Hence we always want to be the ones in the limelight. But most of us do not see the "priest on the mountain of sugar". Look at it from this point of view, if the Kenyan game took off how many jobs would be created? Think about the jobs form merchandising, broadcasting etc..

The problem with Kenya Rugby is that the GM and IRB think they have a monopolly of rugby in Kenya. Ngoja na mutime rugby league ije na mutaona moto ya mguyz. Thooooo.

Were, i advice you to stop watching too much Soaps.. Wake up my brother and stop writing for us a composition and give us facts. Unless you want us to mark it for you? You can give it to Situma, Lox or Ray. But politics will always be there, as much as u may argue against politics, this is where ideas and direction come up. politics is for leaders. Name me one organization/country that does not have politics....PLease come down to reality as you living a La muer'

now back to grown up talk..

As an IRB supporter and soldier, i must say the last year politics has been won by the quin. they managed to use the National team sutup to develop there players so that they could have and edge on local scene.

They fight against floodlits and other club tournaments which help to sustain clubs, and directly impact on teams performance.
Meanwhile against the Sub-lease agreement, (with Sub being key here, they turn a club house into a commercial entity and milk the heavens out of it. No gain to KRU at all but to it FAT drunkards...yes i said it.

IRB will never support GM at all costs. Iam not the spokesman for IRB but how now??? GM??? clearly my guy you got the facts wrong. As far as i know they were the ones rooting for him to be fired as drinking blackice and updating ur facebook page does qualify as work...unless WERE has a different opinion..QN. Like Benja did GM meet his KPI's....Payperview can you please answer?

Impala have always been for the good of the game and when we say Union is IRB, we just behaving like a quin. Can we please name the clubs of all employees, directors and any other person who assist in any way or another...

Kwanza that rugby league will make Impala and Mwamba the teams to beat.

regards
IRB

Mamapima, u should have added Jinga Type to all Impala Haterz...

If Quins have breached the sub lease how come KRU and IRB have not moved against them?

Anonymous said...

By the way KRFU do not pay any rent to RFUEA nor did they commit a single cent to the digging of the borehole at RFUEA grounds.

KRU serve the whole game. In fact, KRU shdnt pay a bob, as their work benefits the whole game. qWhines shd just, on their honour, look for somewhere else like London (Bloodgate) Quins

This guy has done a good job with the Kenya sevens and ive met players who attest to his abilities and thye fact that helped them overcome their enending injuries...word is that Benja no longer takes advice and Totti never shows up for training..these team is on its way down fast if the wrangles in the technical bench arent sorted..best we can do is to wish the guy well, nice conditioning job i hear he is also doing with quins.
