Kenya Airways renews sponsorship for sevens team with Ksh 30M package

Kenya Airways has renewed its sponsorship flight with Kenya sevens rugby team for two more years.

The national carrier’s move comes near the end of their two-year partnership with the team during the final leg of the IRB World Sevens Series in Scotland in May.

The deal with Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) is worth Sh30 million.

KQ chief executive officer Titus Naikuni affirmed his airline’s commitment to the sevens team in their effort to grow a long-lasting relationship with the rugby fraternity.

Naikuni announced the extension of their sponsorship when he had a feel of the team’s training at the Rugby Football Union of East Africa (RFUEA) grounds on Tuesday.

Even though Naikuni noted the team’s slow start to this season, he was confident that they will be able rediscover their winning ways.

“We are now in the second season of our sponsorship after a successful run in 2010 and we are confident that this relationship will be taken for another period of support in coming years,” he explained.

Naikuni was to later officially commission the team that leaves on Saturday for the third and fourth legs of the IRB World Sevens Circuit in Wellington, New Zealand, and Las Vegas, USA.
