Kenya Cup Results 29.1.11
Nakuru in bouyant win over brotherless Mwamba Impala pick fortunate bonus against Nondies Quins whitewash our sad Mean Machine KCB whip Strathmore yet again
My predictions were generally consistent with the results. Was a bit off on the magnitude of the scores.
Nakuru claimed their big scalp for the season with a thumping victory over Mwamba. Surprised that Mwamba were not as competitive as expected.
Nondies failed to come to the party and showed that they have run out of heart and grit, collapsing to lose heavily to Impala. No bonus for Nondies as I had predicted.
KCB run away with the game against Strathmore who continue their slide.
A well choreographed exhibition by Quins left Machine gasping for breath. The victory with a bonus keeps them head and shoulders above the competition.
Kenya Cup could be decided next week if Impala fall to KCB.
My prediction (filled with hope) that Nondies would finally play to their potential was way off! They let the game slide away as usual (after a first half with no tries!), content as they are to lose a game and rush out to socialize.
On the other hand, Nakuru did what they do best and played with heart, piled one the pressure and denied ball to Mwamba for 80 minutes. Simple stuff that win you games. Well done Nakuru! They seem to have shaken off their demons of the first leg.
Quins did the business as expected, but Machine though outgunned kept playing all the way. Interesting to note that they managed to tally 23 points vs Quins this season (10 in first leg, 13 yesterday). In comparison, Nondies managed 17 total, Mwamba 28, and Strath 14. So Machine can indeed score points. Now let's see some defense patterns and they too can get back on form, the way Nakuru is doing.
KCB whitewash Strathmore as predicted. This is a case of two one-dimensional teams going at each other. The one with the most muscles/gym time won. Simple as that, but neither is sure why they won/lost.
well done nakuru , this is a result of resilience even after the gradual skill drain they are subjected to year after year by other teams. We all predicted that the scores would be close bt they really surprised us. Machine also have the fighting spirit needed for teams in kenya cup i really do hope they are able to get rid of the relegation ghost hanging over them. They also hold their fort even when they are goin down. Strathmore is team that is always capable of reinventing itself over and over again, this has nt been one of there best seasons bt give them time and we shall be seeing a different playing outfit.
Nondies is the biggest disappointment of this season, their lack of direction in the games is so evident, all they want to do is get over there fixture games as fast and go and party i believe this behaviour in the main league should be punished by relegation and they should give way to teams which can step up to kenya cup standards namely homeboys, USIU, KISUMU etc Hey just my 2cents
some of these predictions are amusing. like nondies will beat impala. in 13 years, nondies have just managed 1 win a long, long time ago. how was the 2nd one going to be this weekend?
to be sincerely honest i wonder whether we are being real with our comments or we are putting posts coz we have computers infront of us. You are only as good as your last game and if nondies,Machine strath are all struggling very unfortunate. Everyone comes here and says oh i dont know that team lacks vision and charcter and all that. Then when Kenya loose same story then u call urself patriotic.WHEN ARE U GOING TO GIVE SOLUTIONS,all of a sudden now quins have gazillions of fans, when they were not doing so well people did not want to be associated with them, when their club house was not the best looking......... Now that hey are winning,"us quins are the best"HAVE U PAID MEMBERSHIP or when the team cannot(Touch wood)afford transport for an out of town assignment and are loosing you will move to the winning club. 22 yards you say USIU should be promoted, are u saying they are playing better than nondies or all the teams behind nondies in the league standings?have u forgotten the last time they were in kenya cup they did a runner after 4 games coz their best game was a 55-0 drubbing. Maybe u started watching rugby the other day. This blog was started so as to help Kenya rugby grow not see who thinks his club is better than the other, when u say that nondies only want to get over their fixture and go party what would u prefer they go and start training immediately after a game?SO u want a rule that all the teams that loose on the day go home and cry or whatdo u want,Machine are in last position and the only way we can fix that is by training hard during the week and hope for a win,we all play this sport for fun if we lose a game its my choice whether i go to verandah or i go home, we all grieve in different way. So give solutions or shut up
@various Anonymous who commented on my (emotional ;-) prediction RE: Nondies vs Impala.
I fully agree and will try to consider only cold hard facts for the remainder of the season! This worked quite well in my other assessments I might add!
i see someone has comeout defending his/her team vehemently. Well anon (jan 31st 4:02) i usually criticize constructively all teams which are misperforming and commend all teams which have shown there might by winning games through hard work on the pitch, not on the club house. same as the kenya team i will always mention it when i feel they are performing dismally. And take note we always mention what the loosing team did or dint do to make them loose games! What other prompts for solutions do you want? u dont expect me to be quite when the teams we love watching play, perform below their potential? And what other better way is there to get involved with the kenya rugby if its not through the teams involved? i never migrate from my club whether they are loosing or not and for the record its not harlequins (bt if they are performing well then we shall clap for them) but i cite nondies for relegation because we all know that last year they were supposed to be relegated and yet were saved on very perculiar circumstances and still this year they show us the same arrogance that they cant be relegated (team ya ofisi) no matter the outcome of there games then it saddens me dearly. Bt i wont shut up Solution:1 nondies should change their attitude when facing fixture games. I hope u dont expect me to show u how to do that..
the patch-changez old boys game was a nice shot at social rugby nothing competitive about it. Its purpose was just to bring pple together in memories of days gone by and rekindle the rivalry which really played itself during the game. Despite the confusion and disarray in the game
the idea that a blog contribution may lead to the growth of rugby is sheer nonsense! get a team, a school or a club to contribute to in any one of the many ways. even 'super sam' litaba contributed more to kenya rugby by turning up for the changez/patch match than 105 contributions in this blog.we couldn't care if the match wasn't "competitive" by some alien standards
Coming to watch the games or/and active participation in a team be it as a player /fan/official makes this game allot better off than having you sit on an armchair and say this or that about any team. Nondies are playing well, they may not have the personnel for some of the positions required for kenya cup status but catch them on a good day i believe they can beat anyone. It's been a good season for Quins this far cause they are the best organised side and have good depth. Obviously they have also benefited from having the most numbers at the national teams which they have used very well. As for Impala, KCB,Mwamba and Nakuru, they are playing catch up rugby. The base for Quins was done last year and will only bomoka after they win the Kenya cup. Impala fanatic.

22 yards, how can USIU play in Kenya Cup yet they dont even feature in ESS finals. Get real.
People romanticize about Nondies' potential and we are yet to see it. what are they waiting for and league is almost complete
