Kenya Rugby 2010 - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Happy New Year to all Kenya Rugby.

2010 was a unique year and outstandingly rugby survived another year.

The Good
KRFU managed to change the season in line with the international calendar.
The expansion of the Eric Shirley Shield and Universities League was
good for the game especially in West Kenya
The Bamburi Series borne a totally new West Kenya franchise Buffalos
Homeboyz emerged as a fresh breath and won the Eric Shirley Shield
Kisumu Rugby club recovered to finish second behind Homeboyz
The Kenya 7's continued keeping the country's flag high against all
odds in the IRB series and won the Safaricom Sevens.
Kenya 15's had a sterling year winning the Victoria Elgon Cup and
rising to rank 32 in the world.
The Kenya Ladies also won their matches against Uganda and had a good
outing in Dubai.
Sponsors showed attraction for rugby and this saw Safaricom finally
come on board. Others were Western Union, Bamburi Portland, Resolution
Health and Kenya Airways.
Mtaa Rugby took off well in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru and Kisumu.
The Ministry of Rugby and KRFU both held gala awards in recognition of
the players.
Mangu High school excelled.
New stands at KRFU grounds increasing seating space.
Good performance by Impala in Singapore
Shujaa made several tours for exposure

The Bad
Poor performances by Kenya 7's at the Commonwealth and Dubai and George 7's
KRFU Accounts not ready again at the AGM in March 2010
Rivalry between Ministry of Rugby and KRFU over player awards
No impact on sponsorship to players who keep the game going
No compensation to clubs (Kulabu) who had players in the national 7's
throughout the who whole year
Dropping Innocent Namcos Simiyu for personnel reasons during Commonwealth Games
Gray Cullen fiasco and injury
Changing of fixtures haphardly and irregularly
Development Officer
General Manager
Secretary General
KRFU board to a big extent
Refusal by KRFU to promote Homeboyz to Kenya Cup
Refusal by KRFU to sanction Homeboyz 7's
Favouring Nondies and not relegating them. (If it were Kulabu?)
Resignation of selectors
Getting rid of sprints coach and nutrition lady
Secretariat wasting time engaging and politicking in social sites
instead of doing what they are paid to do
Playing in Zimbabwe kit in Dubai. What a shame.

The Ugly
Refusal by chairman to fire Benjamin Ayimba despite sinking ship
Conflict of interest by KRFU officials
Lack of transparency in KRFU affairs
Chairman as part of KFF Harambee Stars Board
Sacking Tank by advertising his job
Not advertising 7's coach and Team Managers 15's and 7's jobs
Assistant 7's coach vanishing act
Tribal composition of KRFU Board and office
Unscruplous and misconduct by General Manager
Trying to fool the country that Kenya 7's kit was in Dar es Salaam,
Tanzania yet it was at Embakasi

It is hoped that meaningful improvements will be heralded in 2011.

Refusal by chairman to fire Benjamin Ayimba despite sinking ship - agreed.

Conflict of interest by KRFU officials - specifics would do here. dont be vague

Lack of transparency in KRFU affairs - dotn be vague, specifics.

Chairman as part of KFF Harambee Stars Board - neither here nor there

Sacking Tank by advertising his job
Not advertising 7's coach and Team Managers 15's and 7's jobs - Tank had indicated at beggining of year he will step down. His health also a concern though he is recovering. One step at a time...maybe KRU will also do others soon.

Assistant 7's coach vanishing act -Sabotage, not good.

Tribal composition of KRFU Board and office - Surely my guy, so u want when elections are done part of the criteria should be tribe?? How stupid. Even so Omwela Luhya, Nigger Luo, Emuya Teso, Sabwa Luhya, Innocent Kisii, Oscar Luo, Mugadi Luhya, Masiga Luhya, Ombisi Luhya, Rombo Luo, Branko Russian and ??

Office GM Kisii / Kyuk, Judy Kyuk, Serah Luo, Mwanja Luhya, Fred Luo, Situma Luhya, Joseph Luhya, Adelaide Luo, Kagagi Kyuk, Bulemi Luhya. Judge for urself

Unscruplous and misconduct by General Manager - specifics please

Trying to fool the country that Kenya 7's kit was in Dar es Salaam,
Tanzania yet it was at Embakasi - idiot get teh facts right, kit was picked by tanzanian national at the dubai airport who was later traced by calling her number in Dar

As usual the KRU employees/cohorts miss the point. They are so fixated with the who's and rather not the how's. Listen to what peeps are sayin and take as positive criticism. You will not be there in that small office/kitchen for life.

haha! it would have been a good read if you stuck to the facts/truths. 75% marks

The good thing about 2011 is we are firing Omwela. Let him go to soccer.
Currently the passage to all evils at KRU.

Now i hear he even bought a car for Benja. Ford something in (2009-2010).

I wonder why he is the chair. doesnt bring money, any political mileage, did not play rugby, cannot fire Benja...........

Can we please get our senses back guys.
