Mean Machine relegated to ESS

The die is cast 'On Mean Machine I lay my trust, all other sides are
sinking sands....'

The dreaded moment never imagined never seen coming is here. Many a
poet would struggle to put it into prose and the founders would lie in
shock.

Mean Machine Rugby ClUb founded 1977 champions 77, 90 and 91 has been
confirmed relegated from the Kenya Cup for the first time ever. They
will play in the second division Eric Shirley Shield next season.
Sadness engulfs this great name.

Take heart and we shall bounce back to the summit again. Mwamba,
Impala, Quins, Mombasa and Nakuru have trodden that path before and in
true ESCHUMA ABSOLUT style we shall bounce back.

NB. Machine Old Boys (MOB) please turn out please in large numbers for
stakeholders meeting charting the way forward for Machine.

Now we need to get Saint Mary's to play in Damu Pevu.

the only bad stuff is tonyango and arigi leading machine. in fact, old boys should stay away from machine! when machine won kenya cup in 1977, 1990 and 1991, no old boys were involved. someone said last week that the horse has bolted

Oh Mean Machine I love my side said...

I agree. Those guys are just a bunch of Hecklers. If anything let them put a sponsor on the table, not do team selection, decide who does what at the club. These are the people who did not find clubs after machine and therefore stick to machine.

My faith is built on nothing else

wen the most frustrated man in kenyan rugde and the overgrwn heckler are in charge of machne.that can only mean trouble.theyv ran down the club.so sad

Going down to ESS should not be construed to mean all is lost, just buckle up and rebuild.
Anon @ 12.26pm where does saints come in or do you want numbers huko chini?
At all of us there any difference playing Kenya Cup or ESS??? Both have no sponsor so...............

It now has been made official by the Union at a club reps meeting that
Mean Machine is going to be playing in the ESS next season.
Different schools of thought have been projected on the matter.
BAD FOR KENYA RUGBY
There is this school of thought and the feeling is that the cradle of
rugby in this country will be killed with the drop of machine to a lower
tier. True the club has produced the bulk of players in Kenya Cup even
at present, All clubs have been beneficiaries of machine in this
respect.
Question here is does it still count as the cradle, is the quality
churned out what is expected?
RULES ARE RULES
There is this school of thought which the chair of KRU subscribes to.
That was said a team must go down then one must go down. Under normal
circumstances I would agree with this, however, we all know had it been
Nondies in the same position or Impala or Mwamba or Quins this would not
have been the case. Like I said earlier the calibre of students in
University now may not be able to put together the same defence or
offence that other clubs can in the board room.
GOOD FOR THE CLUB
Of all the clubs in Kenya Cup only Machine and Quins have never been
relegated, considering the turmoil and anarchy that prevails currently
in terms of finances, recruitment of players, university support, could
it be time for the club to sit back and regroup? Keeping the club at
Kenya cup level and having them compete with others not on the same
level is totally unfair. Facilities & conditions need to be ideal for us
to compete effectively. Is this the chance the club has to get its act
together?
Whatever school you subscribe to please come and contribute on how this
team can reclaim its lost glory. Kesho 26th February 2011 10 am Graduation square.

Machine should use the time in ESS to regroup and restructure....

Nakuru was relegated some time back, and played a whole season in ESS, won ESS and came back to win to Enterprise cup...

@Penny mbili
On that note, Nakuru will be in town tomorrow. It would be interesting to have, as guest speaker, one of the Nakuru old boys who were part of that Nakuru rebuilding effort?
I think Machine can benefit from insights and a first-person account of trials and tribulations of that period.

so let it be law that Tony and Arigi should never comment again about managment of rugby in Kenya.

Machine has to take the next step to survive which is offer scholarships to players. Thats the only way they can retain quality players who school there.

Lucky Nondi used politics to survive. next year Nondies relegation bound.
