Weekly Ramble

Three years ago, when I took up the challenge to write on this blog, it was a long and lonely journey. A few other blogs existed dedicated to rugby but geared more towards their clubs and/or colleges. The challenge to me was just to write what I see and to comment with my limited knowledge on life and rugby on things that were taking place in the game. I think I have done fairly well and some times it felt lonely and many times I felt low. I've been called a mouthpiece and some other unpalatable names, but to me certain things must be said. On this one, why re-invent the wheel. A young upcoming blogger captures it all here. Forgive the English and grammer, but he has a message to pass. I also wondered why the fixtures were changed (yet again) and will give one club undue advantage as they head into the crunch last two games. Were consultations carried out and was there consensus, or was it a bilateral decision by a few?

Looking ahead, this weekend we are in Wellington for the 3rd leg of the HSBC IRB Rugby World Series and I do believe we have a better selected, better prepared team. But will they be up to the task? Will these warriors be able to pull us out of the abyss that we have fallen? Will we at least be able to come out with some points in this round? Are we warming up for the party in Vegas? Methinks we will have a much better performance but the effects of missing several key players in the first two legs will be felt. I do not believe we will be cohesive enough and will fall out of the main cup quarter finals bracket. I however think we will manage a win in the Bowl competition and get some points.. finally. The blooding of young new players is still proving to be a challenge and maybe playing in the Bowl competition will give us a chance to do this. Once down there, there is nothing much to play for and giving these players a chance to learn the ropes is an opportunity we should not miss. Like it or not, we will need them one day.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Watching the Street Parade of the WEllington 7s was nice but I could not fail to point out 2 things:
1. The odiero chick in kenya kit
2. The Kenya team were wearing Kooga Branded Kit.

Very strange indeed (No problem with an Odiero but the kit??????)
Are we going to have another fiasco?
