Now this is the kind of nonsense that does not help Kenya rugby. Mwangi Muthee is the chairman of KENYA RUGBY and not Mwamba. Instead of saying that Kenya rugby will now improve all u think about is your club, so where does Kenya fit into all this?your the kind of people who vote according to affiliations not what one stands for and thats a very disturbing trend im sure your one of the guys who think tribe first before anything else when it comes to national politics. No wonder some people think we are still evolving..........

The change gives as a chance for change. Not that i know too much about Muthee but i hope he has the interest of rugby at heart.

Top on the agenda is player allowances and kenya cup sponsorship and accountability.

Hope he can have Kenya cup matches hosted in one venue (clubs can take turns in hosting all games per weekend, doesn't have to be at KRFU every other weekend) or revert to the semis and finals format. This way bring the fans back and it will be a no brainer for sponsors. You only have to look at the super series to understand what i am talking about. 1 venue= fans= sponsors.

Then the money needs to reach the players. The amount of sponsors money being used on admin needs to be seriously reviewed and directed to the players. Hope the 40K/ pm for 7s players and 9soc per weekend for super series players greatly improves.

Lastly, no matter how much you Mwangi Muthee do. You need to table audited KRU accounts to be seen as transparent, that's assuming you will be transparent. Dont run KRU like you sole proprietorship. Kenya rugby's hope is one you.

Think about it Mwangi, if you want to use rugby as a stepping stone to politics, no probs by the way, just do it very well and it will be well for you. It will be a mutual benefit at the end of the day.

Welcome change, I think Omwela served the union well and thank him for that, I do not think he had more to offer to the union in the capacity of chairman. He still has a role to play in the broader Rugby community based on his experience and insights gained during his term as Chairman.

I also do hope that Mwangi is not distracted by political ambitions, having played against Mwangi, he was a passionate rugby player and I am sure he will work hard at it. Only criticism on his leadership from his days in Mwamba is that the entrepreneur in him does not appreciate structure in action plans.

I hope the Ngong Road clubs support him too, history of the union politics show that the old Ngong rd. clubs always gang up against the "outsider".

One thing that came out of yesterday's AGM is that regardless of who's at the helm, there is limited future for the game for so long as this 'us versus them' attitude exists. The mistrust and dislike that clubs have for each other brings about the picture that we are not really a fraternity but a lot of people with own interests forced together.

The one legacy Mwangi can leave is uniting the clubs for the common purpose (rugby) and making Kenya Rugby the fraternity it once was where clubs had great mutual respect and did not act spitefully against other clubs

My 2 Cents. Change is always imminent, sometimes good, sometimes bad. In reality only time will tell, however I pray and I trust that top on the list of priorities will be implementing his stated agenda. Not some other one that was not mentioned but everyone seems to know about.

For RO, he is entirely to blame for his own demise. No change in agenda or policies for all that time, relying on the tried and tested. The writing was on the wall last time he was up for re-election and he did nothing to ally those concerns. I'm lazy but somewhere on this blog is his vision for what was to be the next two years and he failed even in that...

Everyone is saying Kenya Rugby has won, I just wonder what. A new broom sweeps clean, but depends on what is being swept!

For all time change is always met with skepticism, however, let's give Muthee a chance, time and room, now that he is the Chairman of the union, to see which direction he takes the Union. RO has done a great deal for the union some we appreciated some we didn't but hey that is life ain't it?

On another note; previously the continuous resounding success of Kenya 7s has been as a combined effort of a number of things; the hard work & commitment of the players, a tight coaching team, efficient & effective team management, supportive board and specialists skills from various consultants i.e. sprinting coach & nutrition consultant etc. However in the recent past it seems something broken and synergies lost once success checked-in. The time energy & support that went into the preparation of the 2009 7s World cup was amazing this is what needs to be the standard for ALL the national teams; 7s, 15s, U19s & Women.

Food for Thought; KRU has such a rich resource of professionals on their payroll why don't they exploit these resources for the benefit of the game?

Now we shall stop seeing the rubbish of the IRB who think that they own kenyan rugby.

IRB even went ahead to nominate a referee for the post of Director! and you expect him to be fair when refereeing their games. We shall watch the IRB keenly during floodlights - after what they did to us (machine) !

IRB said...

what will you do, you effing whining anonymite (anon 2.51pm)! there's nothing to compare btn machine and the gr8 irb... the only thing u can wait for is for impala to win the cup FOOL!

lets c how he will move Kenya Rugby from 78M in a year to 1 Billion.

Lets c if even allowances during super series will go to 2k.

The money he used to line ur pockets with during campaigns is not at the Union. Next week reality checks in and then we see.

Jack u wil not be GM.. pole.

Sore losers, Sour losers, dour loser talk. 3 things to remember.............
1) Machine has not, will not and will NEVER get relegated, go to court if you think otherwise
2) People hate Quins because of its unparalleled success in ensuring player welfare. In the same thread, Machine is more successful than hosts Impala at floodlit and that won't change any time soon
3) Kenya Sevens is also all about Mwamba players. Ngong Road just produces shield/bowl grade squads.

Conclusion, Muthee won the election fair and square. Calling him names won't change that. the game needs to move beyond Ngong Road so that the small clubs whose players are poached day in day out can start making a bit of money too. FYI, Machine has served as an inbuilt development structure for Kenyan rugby. The only notable Kenyan Pros, Lucas Onyango and Edward Rombo were produced by this structure and the more you poach players, the more shield trophies we'll win.

now how did the election become about machine mis-performance.

Boss just win games and dont start looking for help to survive the pitch.

You are spoilt brats wiating to be spoon fed. Other clubs have dicussed and worry more about your relegation than you do.

As for Muthee, good for him. he has promises to deliver on lets see.

In statistics, when you take a sample, its representative of population. so funny that as game has grown these elections represented a samle of kenyan electoral behavior. backroom deal cutting, voter buying, funney delegate lists, delegates flown in and given money...

hope rugby retains its values ...

I wonder how it will pan out with a major contractor of the Union now sitting on the board? Does he disqualify himself, or ensure he gets the contracts....hmmmm.

Rugby Leadership should never again go to Ngong Road. We have seen what they are all about. How can they bring down the agenda of the entire game into a fight over toilets, showers, water and electricity bills and clubhouse bar revenues.
How can KCB and Impala Sponsor a motion that has the direct effect of a rugby club (which is the best 15aside team) losing its homegound !!!!! Is that in the best interests of the game!!!!! Their Officials must be the biggest enemies of the game, and should never hold any Rugby office ever again.

lets wait and hear you complain about kenya training on quarter of a pitch and we will remind you that fateful day....

The guy is talking expansion and doesn’t even know where the Union gets money from.he is either lying blatantly or he is living in utopia. Mombasa can hardly honour fixtures out of Mombasa, university sides will only play when in session, what expansion is he talking about? No team has been denied access to Kenya Cup let him study homeboyz. For the league to remain competitive it has to have promotion and relegation otherwise we will be running away falling from meritocracy into mediocrity. There are tournaments to allow teams to develop, what does he mean by expansion of the game. He must imagine KRU is sitting on fortunes in the bank.

Hehehe, you must be shitting in your pants coz the gravy train will soon be derailed. Muthee's net worth so many times greater than the unions, his fingers r too big for the unions empty piggy bank. The game is going to the people whether you scream to heaven or hell! Look for something else to whine about him, like his pronounciation perhaps. Lol... Lol

And why is GM Auka in Adelaide on a Union sponsored trip via South Africa? How much did the trip coast anyway and who paid.......? where theys smoke theys fire.

Omwela - WASTE OF TIME. Stop trying trying to show you have clout by now refering to RFUEA as your landing pad. The two chairmen will sort you out proper. And by the way Muthee Mwangi is the new Safari Sevens Ltd Chairman,,,,Yes?

omwela richard did us gr8 in the 15 yrs he has been at KRFU. His performance was okay upto when we all know certain characters (the muthaura, ruto, and uhuru) came into the management team of the union. They took every chance to take away part of the little sponsorship the game secured be it in local currency or incentives, trashing the players needs and ignoring the fans input and observations. It got to the point where RO's leadership at the KRFU just became a liabilty to the union, we know abt all those undertable deals, just dare me and i will print the cables here promptly.

It is now imminently clear that Mwambi Muthee does not have the future of rugby at heart. We talked of players allowances being paid on time and increased, but now - it is 4 months since the international players were paid their dues and we have learnt that KShs 800,000 out of the KShs 2 million Zuku deal was paid out to Myke Rabar - a Director of KRU - talk of conflict of interest. Why couldnt the match against Zimbabwe be at KRU and for most of the money to go to the players allowances and development of the game?

So it appears that Mwangi and Myke Rabar are just there to pay themselves, and for Mwangi to to also launch his political agenda.

Blatant disrespect of the KRU constitution is another thing that Mwangi will not go far doing.

Mwangi - an SGM awaits your departure.

And to loose a lurative deal such as supersport and choose Nyayo Stadium - a football designed stadia for rugby is just plain ignorance.

Mwangi - your time is up! We cannot afford to loose any more sponsorship under your short sighted leadership which clearly reaks of insecurities hence suspending and sacking those who differ with you - where is democracy? Grow up Muthee - Rugby is bigger than you!
