Two more KRU board members face the axe

Thanks Eric....

The purge at the Kenya Rugby Union is not complete. Two more top KRU top brass are facing imminent suspension and the sack.

It can be exclusively reported that it is only a matter of time before vice chairman Fred Odhiambo and Henry Emuye are suspended.

The two maybe ‘offloaded’ at a planned KRU Special general Meeting. Their departure will complete the removal of former KRU top brass which served under Richard Omwela. Last week, KRU suspended the secretary Fred Sabwa. Already, Auka Gecheo has been relieved of his duties as General Manager. The purge has also seen a new technical bench appointed for the Kenya Sevens team.

In the meantime, Sabwa has responded to his alleged suspension. In a two-line letter to the KRU chairman Mwangi Muthee, Sabwa writes:

I have seen a letter dated July, 14, 2011 purporting to suspend me as Hon. Secretary. I find it amusing to say the least. I take the liberty to refer you to the Constitution, specifically clauses 10.12, 10.14.3 and 10.16.4.

A letter signed by Muthee quoted Section 10.15.3 of the Constitution. The letter dated July 14, 2010 read in part: The manner in which you have recently discharged your duties as secretary was discussed extensively by the Board. The Board concluded that you acted other than in the best interest of the game. You are suspended as Secretary of the KRU until such a time as the Board will inform you.

Odhiambo who did not attend the meeting in which Sabwa was suspended also added his voice alleging that the original agenda was ‘changed’.

His letter to KRU read: Apologies for not attending yesterday's meeting and I have not seen the minutes? However I am aware that the Agenda as distributed by the Chairman earlier were:

1.Updates from the various committees

2.AOB

Was Frank's conduct part of that or the Agenda was amended or had there been a separate Board Meeting to discuss his conduct? Chairman, please clarify?

The expanded agenda seen - which has 12 items - had the discussion of the conduct of Board members. From the exchanges, it is clear that the daggers are drawn and there is more to come.

The broom has also been ‘sweeping’ Safari Sevens where Muthee has replaced Omwela as chairman. Owiro Asiko who has been the tournament’s director and treasurer Roger Berbington have also been replaced.

Someone needs to tame this buffoon! We have rules that govern how things are done. If we trample on those it is anarchy and no one benefits in a state of total anarchy. The board members are all elected and none of them have a bigger mandate more so to sit in judgement of one of their own.

Sabwa might be guilty of all he is accused of and more but unless due process is followed then the action of the 'Shareman' is acting like a village despot.

Let an SGM be called with the agenda of relieving those board members of their posts and you'll see Mwangi and Rabaa's names on the agenda as well as those who should be discussed for actions against the well being of the game in Kenya

The SGM can be demanded for by clubs. the secretary (acting) then has no option but to publish the notice. There is an acting secretary of the KRU and sad as it may be, the process would have to be pushed through him. So all of you on the blog, run along to your clubs and kick your executive into action. There is still hope outside of the courts.

The agenda for the SGM

1) Discussion on the conduct of those board members who sat in judgement of a fellow elected official

2) Censure of the chairman and his hounds for bringing the game into disrepute

3) Setting up of a process to investigate and report on the allegations against Sabwa and deciding what must be done should the allegations be proved

Hope to hear something happening soon, unless of course we're all toothless buldogs

I like Ocampo....DJ we are coming..Stop sending your Pet from france to recruit at Impala...

I personally sense something very sinister is about to happen. why is chukua and the forty thieves so eager to remove non partisan board members...why does he want total control of board? why is it when such decisions to suspend are taken, the accused is never around?

Why is it that Terry (chukua's mascot) orders staff to send communication or write cheques that have not been approved by board or responsible party's?

Chukua's mascot and DJ we are watching..Whats your cut in that cheque mascot?

Imagine, if Chukua manages to have a board full of allies, union staff ready to dance to his tunes...
I dont blame chukua 100% but this is what happens when you have 'Quicks wa bamburi allowance' and Jack aka 'a blunt gun for hire' whose only contribution to kenya rugby was winning bowl with nazarene university in the local 7s as your advisors.

When you treat people wrongfully, shit hits the fan on you later. You can see the difficulties that Muthee has with 6 clubs refusing to run along with Kenya Cup coz Muthee thinks KRU is his personal business and he can do as he pleases?? No thank you Muthee - Can the SGM be called for to remove all directors that are not representing what they were elected to do - but fairly - of course..
