Victoria Cup Update: Kenya 20 Zimbabwe 26
Played very hard and could have pulled this one out. However, it was not to be and we wind up runners' up in the Victoria Cup.

Some good moments of rugby by players, i had mentioned that Kenya will win only one game, Uganda at home. The plain reason is the technical benchs ineptness.
Well the guys gave it a good shot. we had the muscle they had the class. that little scrumhalf (Jiji) is pure class perfect timing in everything he did. Achayo n Adimo look like the form half back pairing at the moment. swift crisp passes. i was impressed.
It is always better to work with combinations when you dont have enough time to prepare. but i still think we have no scrumhalf since Kola left. Perhaps they should try Kiki.as we cant have srcum halfs who cant pass. just look at JIJI
Selection in a way determines your gameplan..
Meanwhile. DJ stop sending your pet from france to recruit at Impala.
In my view, we all came to the party except one. Let me explain.
* Tight fives: They did the business and contained their opponets when they needed to, and turned on the heat when necessary eg. that pick and drive try. It was a silent, thankless and dirty business day, just the way it's supposed to be.
* Back rows: well done, especially re: Jiji. Had they not been alert, there would have been a whole lot more tries like the one he managed to slip through late in the first half. They also put in an awfully high work rate. Tony was a true nuisance all over the pitch, and Buyachi showed high intelligence/ reaction to anticipate Adimo's break and score a brilliant try off his shoulder.
* Half backs: They all did what needed to be done and showed class doing it, but I would have expected them to be better readers of the game and identify + work around the problem we had at center.
* Centers: I know it's never so simple to pin a loss on a single individual, but saturday we died with Kelvin Omiyo. He is very strong, but that entire game he did not pass -or kick- the ball once, killing every single attack/momentum in the process. Here, we needed an intelligent distributor, and Kichwa let us down. I believe we could have won had even Nato been brought in at that position. Or Omuka to come in at #13, and Patrice moving to #12. Anybody who could make a pass down the line really.
* Back three: Given the problems outlined above, there's litterally nothing to write home about. It was a case of the old rugby saying: one cannot play without the ball... Anyway, those who did manage to get their hands on the ball did a good job, namely Abuoga (via kicks at goal and for territory) and Mose (with his wonderful counter-attacking runs).
There you have it, a frustrating day for players and fans alike.
As harsh as it sounds, for the most part, a single individual cost us this one.
Kichwa was put there with the sole intention of tackling and he did his job extremely well in my humble opinion. skill factor may be missing but what the coaches asked of him he did. i agree if the game plane is to swing the ball wide then he has no place in the backs. am guessing the game plan was to engage zim in a tight game nothing more.
you cannot pin it down on Kichwa. the backs need some more creativity. we all think Nato is God send but i believe he relies too much on individual brilliance leaving his backs to suffer with no ball. adimo is maturing well and tends to release those backs almost all the time.
how about pushing nato to 12 and let the quin half back pairing do their thing and probably have Nyando at thirteen to add to the agility. Injera at 14 he proved his worth at the brss sudi is out dated guys and if Mose can take over the boot from abuoga then ayange should play at 11.
then you will have agile and fast back three players. bring in nyambu and oscar to do the dirty work buyachi at 8, aung and tony at 5 and 4. daddex, joel and buff.
if wishes were horses then beggars would ride on them.
Can somebody teach Abuoga how to defend at the wing please!!!!!He was beaten so easily by his markeR->(Greasing tackles)!!Good kicks though....If we can man up abit and use our sholders to tackle, then kenya 15s tutaenda mbali
i agree with data miner in a previous post that re-lying on local coaches to take us to the world cup is full-hardy. That rooster called TC should be the first one out,let him teach the cheetahs how to win games. Tank represents the old generation and i doubt he has adapted to the way the game is being played.
keep Ogre but under the stewardship a professional head coach he knows his job.

meanwhile share is planning to axe current bench and bring back manu, assisted by Dero or Pau.
Manu who cost us world cup place and does not even have a Level I certificate.
Mitch Good Stuff in Zim...
